The following are some of the main screens in FMV. This will show you how to access some of the screens and demonstrate their function.
FMV Previewing In Real-Time
This is the main edit screen in FMV. Each tab provides a different function with a real-time preview. For example, if you click the Transition' tab and select a transition, that transition will be displayed in real-time on the currently selected clip.
As FMV 'knows' the length of each clip in the transition, the range on the transiton duration slider is automatically set.
Simply adjust the slider to select the desired duration of the transition.
![]() This is the 'Effects' tab. Effects can be 'layered' - i.e you can apply as many effects as you like to each cut
and each effect can be individually 'keyframed' - This allows you to vary each effect parameter over the
duration of the cut.
To access the keyframe and effect parameter screen, simply 'Right-click' on any effect that is selected (checked). Each parameter is
varied smoothly between each keyframe. In the following example, the cut has 4 keyframes applied to the 'Poster Edges' effect.
Keyframes are added by moving the 'positioning' slider and then clicking the blue 'Add keyframe button' on the far right. To delete a
keyframe, select it from the list and click the 'Remove Keyframe' button.
Ease & Motion effects are selected from the 'Effects' tab and then clicking the 'Ease Motion' symbol.
This allows you to spin cuts around and zoom in and out.
As FMV is real-time - Experimentation is the best way to discover new features.
